Candy Store Scales

Candy store scales are used to weigh the amount of candy sold. Your candy store may have an issue with easily connecting the scale read-out to the candy store cash register. Watch the video below to see how Bepoz Point of Sale Systems connects with scales at candy stores.

Candy Store Cash Register Scales

The antique candy store scales from long ago are beautiful reminders of a simpler time. They are also reminders of how many errors are made when scales aren’t both digitized and connected to a point of sale system.

Candy stores are big business. To make the most of this, it’s important to have an automated system that removes the issue of human error. This is where using Bepoz Point of Sale Systems will help you.

Weighing Candy with A Candy Store Cash Register

There are a couple of ways modern candy store scales connect with the point of sale. Arguably the most popular is to have a scale at the register. Customers look for candy, bag their own, and then place it on the scale next to the register. A cashier could use the readout to key in the weight of the candy, but there is a better option.

A scale that is connected to a POS system will automatically integrate. The cashier uses a touchscreen to determine which item is on the scale, and then the POS calculates the final price. This also works with non-candy items like ice cream.

Pre-Printed Labels

Another way to use a candy store scale is to pre-print labels. Label-printing scales allow you or your employees to pre-package items and weigh them yourself. The scale communicates with the POS to print a label with a barcode, which is then placed on the package. Shoppers can see what the candy items are, the weight of each package, and the cost. The cashier simply needs to scan the barcode to sell the product.

This is a healthy and safe way to continue selling bulk foods during a pandemic. Customers can still have the food they want, items are still purchased according to weight and your candy store continues to thrive.

Hey, this is Tim with Bepoz candy store point of sales systems, and in this video, we’re going to talk about selling weighed items in a candy store. There are a couple of different ways that this could be done.

The first method is that you might have a scale at the register when people go to checkout. The people grab their bulk items, maybe put them in a bag, bring them up to the register and put those items on the scale, and that scale would integrate with the point of sale. The cashier would typically press a button on the touchscreen that represents the kind of product in that bag, and it would grab the weight off the scale and input it into the point of sale along with the price per pound or ounce or whatever on the product, and then calculate out the final price for those products.

This could be done; many candy stores also do ice cream. If you wanted to sell ice cream by weight, that works as well. Various ways that that could be done.

The other kind of scale that we integrate with is the kind of scale that preprints labels. We call this a label printing scale. They’re often used in delis, so internally, we sometimes call them deli label printing scales, but they’re label printing scales. They print a label that has a barcode on it, and that barcode is encoded with the weight of the package.

Let’s say you wanted to sell, roughly, a pound or two of some kind of candy and have it prepackaged. You could then have that candy put in the package, put it on the scale, print out the label that has the barcode that’s embedded with the weight of the product and what the product is, and when the person brings the candy up to the point of sale, the cashier scans that barcode on that package, and the barcode, again, has encoded the weight and what the product is. It says ok, this is two pounds, and it’s this product, and that product is $5.99 a pound, so two times $5.99 is $11.98 or whatever the amount is, and then that’s the amount that gets rung up, as well as it will then do the two pounds deduction from inventory when that’s rung up.

Both scale integrations would allow for the inventory deduction when it’s sold as well, by the way.
