Managing Employee Meal Plans with a POS System

Providing a meal plan for team members is a great perk that many potential employees consider when applying for jobs. This benefit alone can help you attract top-notch employees when hiring for your business. But managing an employee meal plan for a large company can quickly become an administrative headache. Watch the video below to quickly learn why utilizing a POS system to manage employee meal plans is essential for your business:

There are quite a few options to consider when constructing an employee meal plan.  It is common to provide a set number of meals for employees on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Some companies simply offer one meal for their employees during or directly after each of their shifts. Others opt to offer an employee discount on meals.  However you decide to structure the meal plan you offer to your team, Bepoz has the capability to accurately track and report individual employee meal plan data for you.

Employee Meal Plans and Tax Deductions

Did you know that employee meal plans are tax deductible? Having a highly accurate system to properly deduct employee meals is essential for you to take advantage of all the tax benefits available to you. If you are keeping track of employee meal plan details on paper or on a spreadsheet, you are at risking tracking errors and employees abusing their meal plans by falsely reporting their used or unused meals. Going off of the honor system is unreliable and could open your business up to potential profit losses. Using a POS system to manage employee meal plans is the most simple and precise solution.

Hi my name is Tim here at Bepoz Enterprise Point of Sales Systems. Here at Bepoz we commonly hear customers come to us that have a need to track employee meal plans. And the way this works for many people – meal plans could be many different things. Meal plans could be an employee gets discounts on certain items. It could be as simple as that. But it could be that an employee has a certain number of dollars that they could spend on lunch or a certain number of dollars that they could spend per month or per week. Or it could be that they have a certain number of free meals they get per day or per week or per month. In any case, Bepoz was ways to manage these plans and be able to track how many meals, how many dollars, how many anything the employee has left on their plan – and again it could be per day, per week, per month, per year, per semester, per whatever – and track that for the individual employee so that you have accountability.

This gets away from, in many solutions, the way that they would handle this is that businesses are keeping this on paper, they’re keeping this on spreadsheets, they’re taking the employee’s word at it that they have a free meal or that they still have dollars still left. All of these manual processes are first prone to error, take a lot of time to be able to manage, so you have a lot of managers keeping track of papers and making sure that employees aren’t over doing their balances. Or if the managers aren’t doing their job correctly, employees are just getting away with more food than they should. So all of these things are reasons why we’ve created systems to be able to track employee meal plans for you.

So if you’d like to talk to us about how Bepoz could help you with your employee meal plans, we’d love to talk to you about that. You can either call us at the number at the top of the page, or you can click on the link below. In any case, I hope you have a great day.
