It’s time to celebrate our nation’s independence. The 4th of July is right around the corner so it’s time to utilize your point-of-sale (POS) for booming sales! Here is a step-by-step guide to a sparkling summer season of sales!
First, you’ve got to have inventory. Do you know what you have and where it’s at? We know that many fireworks retailers have multiple locations, with some shops set up in tents. Keep track of your stock with your POS by looking up your products, checking the numbers, and knowing which location it’s at for easy pick-up.
Reporting & Analytics
Next, review your sales history so you can forecast and plan your promotions for the season. How do the Bottle Rockets do? Should you buy more or less than last year? Where do the Roman Candles fall? Not a hot item last year? That’s ok. Don’t order as many this year.
Sales & Loyalty Programs
Now that you know what sells and you know what is in your stock room, think about how you’ll maximize your sales. Try buy one get one specials to move old inventory. Utilize your customer loyalty program to email your customers and let them know your weekly specials. If you have an SMS list, text your customers to keep them engaged in your offers.
Now that everything is in place, inventory, sales plans, loyalty program blasts and SMS schedules start to watch the sales boom. Make sure to pull your sales reports each, day, week, month, or year. You’ll see exactly what you sold, how much you sold, and who sold it. Your data is right at your fingertips.
Tweak your Plans
As you use your POS to help you manage your inventory, data, promotions, loyalty program and more, make sure to revise your plans based on your analytics. For example, maybe you’re not seeing the booming bottle rocket sales that you expected. It’s ok. Just modify the price in your POS, or even create a new special. Perhaps, package this item with another bundle special.
