Preparing Your POS For The Summer Months

Is your point-of-sale (POS) system ready for the summer months? Before the temperatures soar, you’ll want to take a few minutes to review a maintenance checklist to make sure your POS can handle summer heat and business increases. It might be a good time to do some other maintenance as well. Consider these summer preparation tips.

Uninterrupted Power Supply

Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), is key to keeping your POS system running smoothly, especially during the summer when power consumption is at it’s highest.  This means the chances of blackout or brownout are also at their highest.  Any one of these power outage scenarios could damage your POS system, or any electronic devices that are not protected by a surge protector or UPS.  If any of your POS system devices are not plugged into an UPS, consider purchasing one.

System/Data Backup

Bepoz POS systems are equipped with backup and recovery devices and media.  There may be automatic file backups, but there is always a removable backup device and media in the form of external hard drives or DVD discs. If you don’t have a system in place for routine maintenance, make one. A suggested daily or weekly routine is good to make sure your system is backed up to the removable media. Make sure your removable media is swapped out regularly.  This will allow for the quickest way to restore your system after a hard drive replacement.

Venting/Cooling

When was the last time you inspected the surroundings of your POS equipment? All electronic equipment has cooling vents.  Does your POS equipment have room for cooling?  What temperature are you keeping the room where you store your system? Is it clear of dust? It’s important to give your POS room to breathe, and keep it clean for high performance.

In fact, practicing all these tips can help your Bepoz POS system run at peak performance no matter how hot the summer heat gets. If you need more information on how to care for your POS system during the summer months, give Bepoz a call. We’re here to help.
